We back our commitment to you with our Kenzie Tuition Refund Guarantee”:  subject to the terms and conditions below, we’ll refund 100% of your paid tuition if you are not offered a “Qualifying Position” within 180 days of completing your Kenzie Academy program of study.

Each Kenzie program takes effort, and your career search will be no different. We are committed to your success, and we ask that you make an equal commitment to us and to yourself.

Eligibility Requirements

To qualify for the Kenzie Tuition Refund Guarantee, you must:
  • Be enrolled in the September 2021 Software Engineering cohort.
  • Graduate from the enrolled program within the expected duration of the program (as indicated in the enrollment agreement), and complete all course requirements (including, but not limited to, 100% of all career services curricula and requirements);
  • Be a U.S. citizen or permanent resident;
  • Be able to pass any background checks associated with jobs that you apply for
  • Pay tuition using a month-to-month, up front, or loan payment plan (income share agreements are not eligible);
  • At the time of graduation, live in or within a one-hour commuting distance of one of the “Approved Cities” defined below; 
  • Be proficient in spoken and written English, as determined by initial interactions with the Kenzie Academy Admissions team
Without limiting the foregoing, situations that void the Kenzie Tuition Refund Guarantee include, but are not limited to:
  • You turn down a job offer for a Qualifying Position (defined below);
  • You decide not to conduct a job search for all or part of the “Guarantee Period”;
  • You choose to continue on to another educational program instead of conducting a job search; 
  • You decide to search for a role, or accept a role, that does not meet the Qualifying Position definition, before the Guarantee Period is over. 
  • You do not put “Sufficient and Consistent Effort” (defined below) into your job search.
  • You do not communicate with Kenzie Academy’s Career Services team consistently throughout your search. Consistent communication is defined as responding to personal outreach from the Kenzie placement team within one business day, and notifying the Kenzie placement team of any offers you have received within three business days;
  • You become physically or mentally unable to conduct an effective job search as outlined above during the Guarantee Period;
  • You do not apply for Qualifying Positions in the Approved Cities as required above throughout the Guarantee Period; 
  • You significantly change your job search strategy during the Guarantee Period unless agreed to in advance by Kenzie Academy;
  • You do not follow through with the interview process for Qualifying Positions in a timely and professional manner, including but not limited to not participating as expected by the employer in the interview process by providing responses to employer communications, showing up on time for interviews, and providing documents or follow up as expected by employers; 
  • You do not apply for jobs that are suitable for your background or experience as discussed in your calls with Kenzie’s Career Services team; or
  • You no-show or reschedule/cancel a call, with less than 24 hours notice, with a career services staff member 3 or more times.

“Qualifying Position”

A “Qualifying Positionis defined as any role in a field made possible by the program:

  • A salaried employee or waged employee working an average of at least 30 hours a week onsite or remote, making $40,000 a year or more; 
  • A full-time (30 or more hours per week) contractor, intern or other compensated service provider relationship for 3 months or longer working onsite or remote; or  
  • A paid onsite or remote contractor or intern that has the potential to be extended or converted to a full-time role.

“Guarantee Period”

The “Guarantee Period” is defined as the period beginning at enrollment and ending 6 months after receiving a Kenzie Academy certificate of completion, and may be extended in the following circumstances: 

  1. By up to 12 months if the national unemployment rate is at any point during the Guarantee Period equal to or greater than 10%, or the monthly increase in the national unemployment rate (as measured by the Bureau of Labor and Statistics) exceeds 2%, or there are back-to-back monthly increases in the unemployment rate; 
  2. By one month to account for seasonal slowdowns in hiring, such as during the end-of-year holiday season occurring at any point during the Guarantee Period; or 
  3. By up to six months if there is a natural disaster or other occurrence beyond Kenzie Academy’s control at any point during the Guarantee Period that disrupts the job market nationally or in one or more Approved Cities you are targeting. 
  4. The Guarantee Period may also be extended by mutual agreement. 

The foregoing extensions may be cumulative.

“Career Services Period”

During the “Career Services Period” defined below, we expect you to fully commit to the job search (Sufficient and Consistent Effort) and to work as hard as you did before graduating. We require you to engage in the process as a professional and to take our recommendations seriously. 


“Sufficient and Consistent Effort” is defined as: 


  • completing the Kenzie Career Curriculum by graduation 
  • earning advisor approval of all Career Artifacts (resume, LinkedIn profile, Kenzie Profile) within one month of graduation
  • collaborating with your career coach to create a personalized job search plan approved by your coach; 
  • completing all mandatory mock interview training sessions assigned by advisors
  • applying to an average of seven (7) jobs per week after completing the Career Artifacts, unless the personalized plan designed with your coach sets a different number;
  • tracking all your job search activity on the job application platform used by Career Services, and producing this resource at each of your coaching sessions; 
  • completing reflection surveys sent periodically by Career Services to document your job search process; 
  • replying to the Career Services team or Kenzie Academy employer introductions within 1 business day; 
  • not committing acts of dishonesty during the application process (i.e. submitting work that is not yours or making misrepresentations to employers on your resume or otherwise); 
  • responding to placement related communications from Kenzie Academy within two business days;
  • Attending (virtually, or in person) at least 5 networking events (such as a meetup) each month, unless your personalized job search plan sets a lower minimum and being able to provide a log of these events.  

“Career Services Period” means the period that starts with the final quarter of the program and ending upon the end of the “Guarantee Period.”

“Approved Cities”

Approved Cities” means the metropolitan areas surrounding the following cities for which the Kenzie Tuition Refund Guarantee applies:

Seeking a Tuition Refund

If you have graduated from a Kenzie Academy program, have conducted a professional job search as described here and by your career services team, and have not received an offer for a Qualifying Position within the Guarantee Period, you may request a refund of your tuition using the refund request form. This form requires you to certify that you have met all the terms of this guarantee and have not been offered any Qualifying Positions and must be made within one calendar month after the end of the Careers Services Period.
