Kenzie Academy and Colorado State University-Global Partner to Provide Students with Pathway to a Degree

Partnership aims to give recent high school graduates and individuals looking to gain skills-based training with the ability to apply credit toward a bachelor’s degree for long-term career success.

INDIANAPOLIS May 9, 2019 - Kenzie Academy, a career college for the new economy focused on  technical education and workplace skills in the American Heartland, today announced a new partnership with Colorado State University-Global (CSU-Global), the first and only 100% online, independently accredited public university in the United States. The offering, which was designed for high school students currently considering their postsecondary options and individuals looking to earn or finish a college degree, creates an industry-aligned and affordable pathway to obtain the skills and degree needed to launch a successful career.

By joining forces, Kenzie and CSU-Global are providing students and adult learners with a flexible option to obtain a career-focused degree and gain industry-relevant skills. The program, which is now open for enrollment, gives students the opportunity to learn as they grow. Once enrolled, students begin their one-to-two year program with Kenzie, followed by online courses at CSU-Global for completion of their bachelor’s degree.  All courses are extremely flexible to meet modern students’ scheduling needs.

While earning a degree is an important requirement for many employers, students are increasingly interested in skills-based postsecondary options as shown by the extraordinary growth of coding bootcamps in recent years. This partnership between Kenzie and CSU-Global enables students to maximize their learning to pursue both.

“With only 25% of  U.S. college-educated adults agreeing that their education was relevant to their career and daily life, it's obvious that the current education model needs to continue to improve its focus on the needs of employers,” said Chok Ooi, CEO and Co-founder at Kenzie Academy. “By prioritizing accessibility and outcome-based learning, Kenzie is excited to partner with CSU-Global, a university uniquely aligned with this focus, to equip students with a degree and the skills they need for well-paying jobs while reducing their overall educational costs.”

Based in Indianapolis, Kenzie Academy aims to close the opportunities gap in Middle America through accelerated, project-based learning with a cutting-edge curriculum at an affordable and flexible price point. Through its “learning by doing” model, students enrolled at Kenzie go through immersive, project-based courses in either software engineering, UX, or digital marketing.

“CSU-Global is focused on setting students up for long-term success through high-quality, outcome based, and affordable education,” said CSU-Global Provost and Vice President of Strategic Development, Dr. Karen Ferguson. “Since 2007, over 18,000 students have graduated from CSU-Global, finding fulfilling careers and earning more than the national average. Through our partnership with Kenzie, students will have an additional, customized pathway to obtaining the skills and knowledge needed in the modern workforce.”

With “nontraditional” students now accounting for the majority of the postsecondary landscape, both Kenzie and CSU-Global understand the importance of affordable and flexible options for the modern student. CSU-Global has not raised tuition in over 8 years, while Kenzie’s flexible Income Share Agreement (ISA) financing option gives students the ability to pay no upfront tuition until they land a job earning at least $40,000 annually.  Students transferring to CSU-Global from Kenzie will also receive a 10% discount on CSU-Global’s already affordable tuition.
