Content Specialist

Kenzie Academy is looking for a Content Specialist to join our fast-growing, Indianapolis-based startup that’s reimagining education. You will work with the Director of Growth Marketing and the Marketing and Communications Specialist to write, edit, and design content to be used in recruitment campaigns.

Kenzie Academy, a tech apprenticeship program that develops modern tech workers, reimagines higher education, combining training in the latest tech skills, real-world work experience, and mentorship from industry experts. Kenzie offers courses in coding and computer science, paired with paid apprenticeships, closing the gap between school and employment.

  • 1-2 years marketing, content, or social media experience

  • Experience with at least some of our marketing stack. We use MailChimp and Drip for email marketing; Sprout Social for social media management; Google Analytics and Wicked Reports for reporting; Canva for graphic design; Squarespace as our CMS. You don’t have to be an expert, but being a quick study is necessary.

  • Education: A bachelor’s degree or undergraduate in English, Communications, Marketing, Journalism, Public Relations or a related field. A few years of work experience in creating content, social media management, and email marketing.

  • Attention to detail and ability to prioritize when faced with multiple tasks

  • A team player who enjoys a fast-paced, fun environment!

About the Role

Students are the lifeblood of Kenzie, and making the choice to continue your education is a big decision. That’s why we need a content guru to join our team - to help create engaging content. You will be working with the Marketing and Communications Specialist and the Director of Growth Marketing to write, edit, and design content including but not limited to: brochures, blogs, video, social posts, infographics, landing pages, website pages, and more. Content will need to be designed according to SEO best practices, and industry standards.

Responsibilities include:

  • Write/Edit Content: blog posts, social posts, brochures, one-sheets, and other forms of earned and owned media.

  • Asset Creation: Capture candid and creative photographs and videos for promotional use in social posts and website. Design banners, social media graphics, and various print materials.

  • Monitor industry-related topics and publications to stay current with trends and identify new content topics of interest.

  • Ability to use SEO guidelines to increase web traffic and incorporate relevant keywords into blog content.

  • Support social media distribution and monitor engagement.

  • Event Planning: Assist in promoting and executing Kenzie events. Create content, post on social, snap photos, shoot video.

  • Work cross-functionally with other internal stakeholders, executives, customers, and partners to create compelling content and complete other value-add initiatives to drive each stage of Kenzie Academy’s growth.
